According to Zara O’Hare, an interior designer at Land of Rugs, it’s not difficult to recreate that allure at home

The expert claims that the secret that hotels use to make bedrooms feel luxurious is the pillows.

“Hotels have perfected the art of creating luxurious bedrooms, and a key element is their generous use of pillows,” she tells Fabulous

“The soft, fluffy cushions make the room feel luxurious and relaxing.

“Introduce extra pillows to your bedroom.

“Experiment with different sizes, shapes, and textures to create a personalised and indulgent retreat.

“Consider adding a throw pillow or two for a splash of colour or pattern.”

Zara went on to explain the importance of the bed as the centrepiece of any bedroom.

“The bed is the single most important piece of your bedroom and the first thing you can change in it to completely transform it is the headboard,” she says.

“Whether you choose a sleek upholstered design, a vintage-inspired headboard, or a modern minimalist piece you need to consider the style of your furniture and overall décor.

“This will make sure that it complements the existing elements.”

“High-quality sheets are next in transforming your bed,” she adds.

“Investing in high-quality sheets is another essential step towards a more luxurious bedroom.

Home upgrades that add the most value to a house

The best renovation to add value totally depends on your property, the local market and your potential buyers.

Zoopla shared a list of upgrades that will instantly add value to your home.

  1. Loft conversion – increase of 15%
  2. Off-street parking – adds £50,000 to property price
  3. New kitchen – increase of 15%
  4. Garage conversion – increase of 15%
  5. Cellar or basement conversion – increase of 10-15%
  6. Open plan living space – increase of 3-5%
  7. New bathroom – increase of 3-5%

“Luxurious fabrics like Egyptian cotton, linen, or silk not only feel incredible against your skin but also add a touch of elegance to your bed.

“Choose a thread count that suits your preference for softness and durability.”

Surprisingly, one of the key things to invest in is also lighting.

According to Zara, a good quality bulb can make the difference between a dull room to a relaxing ambience.

A well-lit bedroom can instantly lift the ambience, turning it from ordinary to extraordinary

“Your central overhead light is there to provide general illumination, but there’s nothing more dull than a couple of bulbs that only offer basic brightness,” she says.

“A well-lit bedroom can instantly lift the ambience, turning it from ordinary to extraordinary.

“You need to layer your lighting to create a cosy and inviting atmosphere.

“And that’s best done with some lovely lamps and dimmer switches that allow you to adjust the mood according to your preference.

“If you want to go a bit extra, a statement chandelier or pendant lights can add a touch of luxury to your bedroom and will serve as both decorative and functional elements.”
