A cool 26 per cent love the crisp autumn air, while 24 per cent are all about staying in to binge-watch their favourite TV shows.

Cosy blankets come in at 23 per cent, snuggling on the sofa at 21 per cent, and winter knits and jumpers make the cut with 16 per cent saying they’re a must for the season.

The research, commissioned by Procter & Gamble and teamed up with cleaning guru Mrs Hinch, launches a new limited-edition range – ‘Mrs Hinch’s Cosy Season’.

P&G’s Ayca Turgay said: “There’s a lot to love about the changing of the seasons.

“Whether it’s the weather, the beautiful scenery, or a chance to catch your breath after a busy summer, autumn gives us the perfect opportunity to turn our homes into cosy havens.”

The study also spilled the beans on Britain’s top cosy activities – with nights in at home leading the pack at 46 per cent, followed by snuggling up at 39 per cent, and pulling out those blankets at 34 per cent.

More than half say they make fewer plans during autumn than in the summer, with 55 per cent loving the excuse to stay indoors more.

Partners are the preferred company for all this cosiness, with 43 per cent choosing them over wider family.

Meanwhile, one in ten enjoy spending a night in alone.

Hot chocolate is the top autumn treat, loved by 37 per cent, followed by coffee at 16 per cent, and mulled wine at 7 per cent.

Ayca Turgay adds that with nights drawing in, creating a comfortable sanctuary at home is key.

Procter & Gamble’s new collection, Mrs Hinch’s Cosy Season, is designed to help and is available now across Bold, Lenor, Fairy, Flash, and Febreze.
