FINOM appoints new CFO amid European expansion

Digital banking platform FINOM, which also has offices in Cyprus, announced the appointment of Alessandro Camilotti as its new chief financial officer on Thursday.

The Amsterdam-based firm explained that Camilotti’s appointment aims to bolster the executive team as FINOM scales its operations across the European Union.

Camilotti, a fintech veteran with over a decade of experience, joins FINOM from Swedish fintech Klarna, where he served as Head of Finance & Analytics for the EU region.

His previous roles also include Head of Commercial Finance at Wise and senior positions at General Electric (GE).

The company mentioned that his new responsibilities will include supporting FINOM’s expansion plans while maintaining financial sustainability, building a strong finance team, and enhancing the company’s financial governance, risk management, and compliance processes.

“We are excited to welcome Alessandro to the FINOM team as our new CFO,” said Yakov Novikov, co-founder and co-CEO of FINOM.

Novikov further mentioned that “his extensive experience in finance leadership at high-growth fintech companies makes him the ideal person to lead our financial strategy”.

“As we continue our mission to build a full-stack financial operating system for entrepreneurs and SMEs across Europe, Alessandro’s expertise will be crucial in driving our financial performance and supporting our ambitious course for market leadership,” he added.

Camilotti expressed enthusiasm for his new role, saying that “FINOM’s track record and projections all point towards hyper-growth”.

“My purpose will be in scaling the business and positioning the company for future success through various avenues,” he added.

Camilotti also stated that “this is a unique opportunity to drive financial strategy in a fast-paced, innovative environment, and I am eager to contribute my expertise to the company’s long-term vision”.

“Alessandro’s appointment comes at a time of significant momentum for FINOM,” the company said, noting that it currently serves over 100,000 business customers across Germany, France, Spain, the Netherlands, and Italy, and has plans to expand across the entire Eurozone by 2025.

FINOM has recently enhanced its leadership team by recruiting top market experts, including Rob Allen, formerly of Revolut, as Head of Sales.

“These strategic hires underscore FINOM’s commitment to assembling a world-class team to drive the company forward,” the announcement mentioned.

Meanwhile, as part of its recent milestones, the company recently set a Guinness World Record for the most cake pops decorated in one hour.

The event, which took place in Limassol during the company’s fifth anniversary celebrations, brought together 80 participants from across FINOM’s European hubs.

“While setting a world record for cake pop decoration is certainly sweet, FINOM is on a trajectory for an even more impressive milestone—reaching one million users across the EU,” Novikov said at the time.
