The Swachh Bharat Mission's construction of toilets has potentially prevented 60,000-70,000 infant deaths annually, according to a study. Researchers found that increased toilet access correlates with lower child mortality rates. Despite these benefits, inequalities in toilet adoption persist due to caste and religion-based discrimination. The campaign has built nearly 12 crore toilets since its launch in 2014.
