Hacker steals $20,000 from Kansas hotel: Police

MANHATTAN (KSNT) - Police in the Little Apple say an investigation is being launched after a local hotel was allegedly hacked, losing thousands of dollars in the process.

The Riley County Police Department (RCPD) announced in a report that officers filed a report for theft and unlawful acts concerning computers around 4:45 p.m. on Sept. 4 for a hotel in the 500 block of Richards Drive. The hotel was listed as the victim of a $20,000 theft.

Police said the cash was allegedly stolen through hacking conducted by an unknown individual using a fraudulent credit card transaction commencing in July and extending through August.
