Over 1,200 Evergy customers without power south of Topeka

TOPEKA (KSNT) - Evergy is reporting that over 1,200 customers are without power just south of the Capital City.

The outages were first reported around 5 a.m. in the area surrounding the Shawnee South Community Park. The outage stretches from Southwest 65th Street south to Southwest 77th Street.

According to Evergy, there are crews dispatched to work on the outages. Evergy said it is reevaluating the situation and will provide an updated restoration time. Evergy says the cause of the outage is currently unidentified.

Electric utility provider Free State Electric is also reporting 200 customers without power in the area.
