Schenectady brewery closing its doors after 7 years

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Schenectady is losing one of its breweries. Greats Flats Brewing is set to close on September 29 after seven and a half years. The brewery announced the closure in a Facebook post on September 4.

"Building out this space, building our community, and of course, brewing lots of beer has been quite the adventure, and we’re very grateful for all the friendships, cool people and amazing times we’ve had along the way," read the post.

Great Flats is a New York State Farm Brewery, meaning their beers are produced with New York State-grown ingredients. The brewery doesn't serve food (unless there's a food truck), so guests can bring in their own food.

"Over the next month, we/you have one super important job to do: drink all the beer," said Great Flats. The brewery will still be hosting trivia, food trucks, and other events during its last few weeks.

Great Flats Brewing is located at 151 Lafayette Street in Schenectady. The brewery is open Wednesday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from noon to 9 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. Great Flats will be closed on September 6 and only open from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on September 8.

"We couldn’t have come this far without our incredible staff and community, so thank you from the bottom of our heart," read the post.
