1. Teen charged with killing 4 at Georgia high school was focus of earlier threat tips
More than a year ago, tips about online posts threatening a school shooting led Georgia police to interview a 13-year-old boy, but investigators didn’t have enough evidence for an arrest. On Wednesday, that boy opened fire at his high school outside Atlanta and killed four people and wounded nine, officials said.
2. Health department investigating legionellosis outbreak at senior living facility
The Albany County Department of Health is investigating the legionellosis outbreak at Peregrine Senior Living. The county said 20 people have been hospitalized since August 30.
3. Troy Police investigate overnight shooting
The Troy Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred overnight. It happened on Highland Avenue near Brunswick Avenue in Troy.
4. Albany Airport Authority board fires CEO Phil Calderone
The Albany County Airport Authority decided to relieve CEO Phil Calderone of his duties in a meeting on Wednesday. In a news release following the meeting, the board described several scenarios that led them to the decision.
5. National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame names interim board chair
The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame voted for the Board of Trustees member Charlotte Weber to be the interim board chair of the museum. The appointment comes after the passing of Chairman John Hendrickson on Monday, Aug. 19.
