WATCH: Andre Fletcher And Keemo Paul Engage Into Heated Conversation, Umpire Intervene To Separate Them In CPL 2024
New Delhi: We have seen many ugly brawls in cricket between players, it is quite common in cricket nowadays. The seventh match of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024 witnessed yet another episode of heated conversation between two West Indies players.
Guyana Amazon Warriors opted to bat first and posted a mammoth score of 266/7 in 20 overs. Chasing the total, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots started pretty well despite losing Evin Lewis early on. Captain Andre Fletcher and Sherfane Rutherford added great momentum to their innings.
The duo took the opposition bowlers all over the park and the game slowly seemed to be slipping away from the Patriots. During the 8th over, Keemo Paul was so frustrated and tried to block the running path of Andre Fletcher, who was giving the bowlers a terrible time.
The batter didn’t like Paul’s act and he didn’t hesitate to show it to the bowler’s face. Paul was not impressed and the two began to exchange words. When the two players appeared to have entered a serious situation, the on-field umpire intervened to separate them before things took an ugly turn.

Soon after the verbal fight, the Warriors managed to get a breakthrough by dismissing Rutherford (34 off 12). Fletcher, who accumulated 81 runs off 33 balls, was sent back by Gudakesh Motie in the 13th over and that completely shifted the momentum. Eventually, the Patriots were bowled out for 226 runs in 18 overs and gave the opposition a 40-run win.
Earlier, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Shimron Hetmyer put on a scintillating show to pile up a massive score of 266. The Afghanistan opener scored 69 off 37, while the Caribbean finisher slammed 91 off just 39 balls with the help of 11 boundaries. Notably, Keemo Paul also contributed 38 off 14 balls before getting run out.
