Vacheron Constantin Releases New Edition of Fiftysix Self-winding

A balanced blend of retro and contemporary styles, the Fiftysix collection is rooted in Vacheron Constantin’s heritage. Inspired by the Reference 6073 created by the manufacture in 1956, it boasts an unmistakable aesthetics which was successfully re-introduced in 2018 in a sophisticated dress-watch style.

The new Fiftysix self-winding watch features an original and contrasting combination of gold, black and anthracite tones. Harmoniously extended by lugs reminiscent of a Maltese cross, its round 40mm pink gold case frames a sectors dial typical of 1950s watches. For the first time in the collection, it is toned in black with a double finish, opaline at the center and sunburst on the chapter ring, creating an elegant play of light and shade with the warm shimmer of pink gold. The contrast continues with the applied pink gold Roman numerals and the hour-markers and hands, which are coated with luminescent material for better legibility in the dark. The look of the dial is further enhanced by the box-shaped sapphire crystal over the bezel, in the style of post-war watches.

At the heart of the new Fiftysix is the self-winding calibre 1326 that comes to life through the exhibition case back. In line with the Genevan brand’s time-honored traditions, it is meticulously finished, with the pink gold open-worked oscillating weight adorned with a Maltese cross, the symbol of Vacheron Constantin’s watchmaking excellence for nearly 270 years.

This retro-contemporary aesthetic is matched by an anthracite nubuck calfskin leather strap with ecru stitching. Pricing is marked at $25,500.
