Minor League Recap: Tugboat Chugs On for the Captains

Flying Squirrels 4, Rubber Ducks 3

Parker Messick was fine, striking out five and giving up one run in four and two-thirds, but the Akron offense and bullpen couldn’t do enough to secure a win. Guy Lipscomb and Yordys Valdes both had two hits for the Rubber Ducks.

Captains 2, Chiefs 1

Tugboat Wilkinson struck out five in six scoreless innings and Angel Genao had two hits including a double for the victorious Captains. Genao is finishing strong as the primary shortstop for Lake County and will make an offseason move up the prospect rankings at this rate.

Nationals 4, Hillcats 1

Melkis Hernandez had a great start for the Hillcats going four scoreless allowing four hits and striking out six, but errors made behind 2024 draft pick Caden Favors doomed Lynchburg. The Hillcat offense was AOL, with centerfielder Tommy Hawke’s two hits from the leadoff spot being the main highlight.
