DEC removes 13-foot snake from Oneida County home
NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation confiscated a 13-foot long snake from a home in Oneida County.
Officers identified the snake as a Burmese python, which are illegal to own in New York without a permit. The owner was given tickets for possession of wildlife as a pet and for possessing dangerous wildlife without a permit.
The 80-pound snake is in good health and was sent to the Fort Rickey Discovery Zoo in Rome.
