In The ‘Burbs, which will be set in present day suburbia, we’ll see a young couple who return to the husband’s childhood home. Their world is upended when new neighbors move in next door, bringing old secrets of the cul-de-sac to light, and new deadly threats shatter the illusion of their quiet little neighborhood.
The new show will film in Los Angeles at the same location of the original movie, the Universal Studios Hollywood backlot!
In addition to Keke, Seth MacFarlane is also one of the executive producers on the show. Dana Olsen, who penned the original movie, will also serve as a co-executive producer, while the new show will be written and executive produced by Dead to Me writer Celeste Hughey.
Keke has not starred in a live-action television series in years. She previously held recurring roles on Star, Scream: The TV Series and Berlin Station, dating back to 2019, while her last series regular role was on Scream Queens in 2015-2016.
Her Emmy win in 2022, for Outstanding Actress in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series, was for her digital short series Keke Palmer’s Turnt Up with the Taylors. She also won an Emmy for Outstanding Host for a Game Show for NBC’s Password.
If you missed it, Peacock has canceled one series and renewed three others this year, so far.
