Trump once again promises to make the US the ‘global crypto capital’
Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump is going all in on his plan to get votes from the cryptocurrency industry as he once again promises to make the US the global crypto capital.
At the Economic Club of New York on Thursday (September 5) he reiterated his intentions, saying: “…instead of attacking industries of the future, we’ll embrace them, including making America the world capital for crypto and Bitcoin.”
He also pledged to “eliminate a minimum of 10 old regulations for every one new regulation” in his second term. He states this could be done “quite easily.”

It’s not the first time the businessman has made such promises, with regular mentions of the industry since he announced his campaign. In May, he said he supported cryptocurrency at a gathering and said his campaign would accept donations in crypto.
In July, he attended a Bitcoin conference where he raised $25 million for his presidential campaign. A month later, in August, he announced his very own cryptocurrency platform with his sons.
Will the crypto vote be enough for the hopeful Donald Trump?
“If you’re for crypto, you better vote for Trump,” the business tycoon has stated in his run-up to the November election.
Vice President Kamala Harris hasn’t been as vocal on the topic, but that could change in the coming months. An aide to the politician has said “She’s [VP Kamala Harris] going to support policies that ensure that emerging technologies and that sort of industry can continue to grow…”
It is not yet clear the influence the cryptocurrency industry will have in deciding the future President, especially as it’s predicted to be a tight race.
According to Project 538’s poll, Harris is slightly ahead with 47.2% against Trump’s predicted 44.1%.
This is in stark contrast, however, to the poll by Polymarket, a decentralized prediction market platform that allows people to use cryptocurrency to make bets.
In their rankings, they have Donald Trump having a 53% chance of success while Kamala Harris sits at 46%.
