And in the latest episode of Olivia’s podcast So Wrong It’s Right, Dr Saleena made a shocking confession about her family life.

The mum shared that she was once offered a free upgrade to business class whilst on a family holiday.

However, there was only one upgrade available meaning that her husband and kids had to stay in economy.

“Did he go along with it?”, Olivia asked of Dr Saleena’s husband.

“Someone’s got to sit with them, they’re too young to sit on their own.”

“He wasn’t happy”, Dr Saleena responded.

“There was only one upgrade basically but I though, oh f*** off, I’m going.”

Dr Saleena said that in her family dynamic, she is the one who organises everything and packs the suitcases so her husband had so far put no effort into the holiday.

Therefore, she decided that it was only fair for her to have a nice relaxing break in business class, whilst her husband looked after the kids.

“Unfortunately, I have to take him on holiday with us”, she joked.

She added that she believes that kids are really “resilient” and are happy to sit for 10 hours in a “crappy” economy seat.

“And men just fall asleep at the drop of a hat, so he doesn’t care really”, she said of her husband.

She added that even when they are on holiday she is the one who does most of the parenting, so she definitely deserves a break whilst on the plane.

How to get a free upgrade to first class on a plane

Travelers often wonder how to secure an upgrade to first class without paying the premium price. According to a flight attendant, there are several strategies passengers can employ to increase their chances. Firstly, loyalty to an airline is crucial; frequent flyers and those with elite status are more likely to receive upgrades. Additionally, booking directly with the airline rather than through third-party sites can improve your odds, as can being flexible with your travel dates and times.

Dressing smartly and arriving early can also make a difference. While airlines generally prioritize upgrades based on status and fare class, a well-dressed passenger who checks in early may catch the staff’s attention. It’s also beneficial to be polite and friendly to the airline staff, as they have the discretion to upgrade passengers at their own judgment.

Lastly, if you’re celebrating a special occasion, such as a honeymoon or birthday, it doesn’t hurt to mention it. While not guaranteed, some flight attendants might consider this when deciding on upgrades. Overall, while there’s no surefire way to get a free upgrade, combining these strategies can certainly improve your chances.

Elsewhere in the podcast, Dr Saleena revealed that she encourages her husband to use her expensive skincare products, as he didn’t look after his skin when he was younger.

“He’s like the opposite of me, he’s a real sun worshipper”, she said.

“He loves the tan and that has really caught up with him now that he’s nearing 40.”

Discussing her own husband, footballer Bradley Dack, Olivia added: “Brad’s skin in a bit knackered, I need to bring him back into you again.

“He’s always in the sun, playing football all day, no SPF.

“We want our partners to be glowing really, we don’t want them to be dusty.”
