I’m the world’s most frugal woman – I spend £1 a day on food, never buy anything without a discount & now I own 3 houses

A WOMAN who is dubbed the world’s most frugal woman owns three homes because she “spends £1 on food” and “never buys without a discount”.

Saki Tamogami, 37, is a Japanese real estate agent who’s bagged three houses within just 15 years thanks to her extremely cheap habits.

She told a local TV show back in 2019 that she allocates just £1 (200 yen) for food every day – working out at 27p (50 yen) a meal.

Saki, who told the programme Happy! Bomby Girl she finds comfort in saving money and always cooks her own food in a bid to save cash.

Her meals include toast as well as udon noodles, a staple food in Japan, and radishes – always bought on offer, according to Yahoo News.

When she fancies a treat, she opts for jam on her toast or a chunk of salmon paired with rice, rarely exceeding her super tight budget.

To make money go even further, the real estate agent refuses to fork out on bowls or washing up liquid – eating directly from the pan instead.

In fact, she stopped replenishing her wardrobe as soon as she hit 19 and relies on hand me downs and charity shops for attire.

Saki has also managed to keep her locks in such great condition – having never dyed it – that she’d sell it for just shy of £17 or 3,1000 yen when it grew long enough.

She claims this gets her by for an entire half month.

Saki, who lives by the motto “Never buy anything without a discount”, set herself the ambitious goal of owning three houses by the age of 34 when she was just 19.

As a fresh graduate she found work at a lettings agency and vowed to be careful with her earnings.

The disciplined estate agent bought her first place aged 27 for £53,500 in Saitama, Kanto, just an hour away away from Tokyo.

Her continual scrimping and eye for a bargain meant she was in the position to add another house to her list.

Aged just 29, she bought the next property for £96,300 – or 18 million yen.

Saki fulfilled her impressive goal of owning a third and final property in 2019, forking out £197, 950 (37 million yen).

She makes her money back from tenants who rent rooms across her properties and even operates a cat cafe on the third floor of her most recently purchased house.

The cat-lover has always longed to support stray cats and offers them shelter in Cafe Yuunagi.

Despite enjoying three properties, Saki is keen to expand her portfolio by continuing to rent rooms out.
