Bicyclist dead after hit-and-run on Fillmore Avenue

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- A bicyclist is dead after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run early Saturday morning in Buffalo, a police spokesperson announced.

Police responded around 2:15 a.m. to Fillmore near Howard Street, where officials said a 24-year-old Cheektowaga man was riding a bicycle southbound on Fillmore when he was struck from behind by a vehicle. The victim was declared deceased at the scene.

Witnesses told police that the vehicle involved, a dark SUV, left the scene of the incident.

Police believe the vehicle could be a Jeep Cherokee, and that it possibly has dark tinted windows and front end damage.
