Going make-up free and sweeping her hair up into a bun, Zara later waded into the water to cool down from the heat.

Keeping her sunglasses on, Zara enjoyed the relaxing getaway away from the UK – and away from the ongoing Strictly drama she was unwittingly dragged into over the past few months.

As an internal investigation was launched into the show following an official complaint by her Strictly 2023 co-star, Amanda Abbington, reported footage of Zara being ‘spat at and kicked’ by her pro partner Graziano Di Prima was passed onto bosses.

Zara is believed to have had no knowledge of the footage being sent to producers ahead of time, only coming forward with her experience when they reached out to her personally.

Graziano was fired from the show in May for reported ‘gross misconduct’, with the Italian dancer later sharing a statement saying in part: “I deeply regret the events that led to my departure from Strictly.

“My intense passion and determination to win might have affected my training regime.

“Respecting the BBC HR process, I understand it’s best for the show that I step away.”

He continued: “While there are aspects of this story involving external influences that I can’t discuss at this time, I remain committed to being strong for my family and friends.

“I wish the Strictly family and the BBC nothing but success in the future.”

He added he would “share his story when the time was right” before flying to Sicily to be with his family.

Zara spoke out days later about what had occurred, and while she didn’t go into detail, not even referring to Graziano by name, she admitted she was “scared to speak up” about what happened in the rehearsal room prior to the footage coming to light.

A month later Graziano changed his tune, stating to the Daily Mail: “These vile, false allegations ruined my life in a matter of minutes – professionally, financially, psychologically and reputationally.”

He maintained he was “not a monster” and believed he and Zara were friends.

It’s since been reported that he is considering suing the BBC for unfair dismissal, lawyering up with top firm Whitestone Chambers in order to prepare for a fight.

Despite the ongoing issues, Zara urged Pete Wicks, the best mate of her boyfriend, Sam Thompson, to take part in this year’s series.

Speaking on Lorraine, Pete said: “Zara is kind of the one who pushed me to do it because she loves the show, and I was quite honest about the fact I had never actually seen it.”

Talking of his abilities so far, he said: “I am like a Ferrari from the waist down, but a Volvo from the waist up.

“The hips are there – I have got hips but nothing else.

“I feel like you need the whole body.”

He makes his debut on the show next Saturday, with Zara already sharing her support for him online.
