UN: Afghanitsan one of the most challenging countreis for women
The World Food Programme announced on Sunday that consecutive crises in Afghanistan have placed the greatest burden on women and girls.
This UN-affiliated organization stated that Afghanistan is one of the most challenging countries in the world for women.
On its X account, the organization mentioned that women in Afghanistan receive the least food. With the reduction in aid, women’s access to food has worsened.
The United Nations has warned that many women in Afghanistan have been forced to send their children out to beg, and what the children bring home is often their only food.
Additionally, the organization highlighted the climate crisis in Afghanistan, noting that in recent months, thousands have died due to floods and snowfall in various regions.
The World Food Programme added that these events disproportionately affect women who are more likely to stay at home.
According to data from Georgetown University and the Oslo Peace Research Institute, published in late 2023, Afghanistan ranks last among 177 countries in terms of women’s progress.
The situation for women and girls in Afghanistan is dire, underscoring the urgent need for increased international support and intervention.
