Mt. Bachelor Resort 'threatened' by Backside Fire

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- The Mt. Bachelor Resort and recreational infrastructure "are considered threatened" by the Backside Fire, the Central Oregon Fire Info said on their X feed.

The Backside Fire is listed at 80 acres with "multiple air and ground resources" battling the blaze, officials said.

Level 3 "Go Now" evacuations that were put into place on Saturday night remain in effect for the Mt Bachelor area including Mt. Bachelor, Todd Creek Horse Camp, Sparks Lake, Devils Lake, and Quinn Meadow area.

Officials with Mt. Bachelor suspended operations for Sunday and expects to reopen Thursday, the next day they would normally be open at this time of the year.

Deschutes County emergency evacuation information

The Central Oregon Daily reported "firefighters responded to 15 wildfires on the Bend-Fort Rock Ranger District of the Deschutes National Forest. They ranged from a quarter of an acre to 150 acres." There are a number of other evacuation orders in effect and a number of roads closed.
