AFG Vs NZ 2024, Greater Noida One-off Test Cricket Match LIVE Updates: Toss Delayed, Next Inspection At 430pm IST
Afghanistan will play host to former World Test Championship (WTC) winners New Zealand in their 3rd venue in India – Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Stadium in Greater Noida – as the one-off Test gets underway on Monday (September 9). The home side have already suffered a big blow with opener Ibrahim Zadran ruled out of the one-off Test as well as the three-match ODI series with a sprain in his left leg.
The one-off Test is not part of the WTC 2025 calendar but will be perfect preparation for Tim Southee’s New Zealand team, who will play five Test matches against Sri Lanka and India over the next two months. The teams should expect spin and low bounce over the black soil pitch at the Greater Noida stadium with the curator struggling to prepare the surface due the torrential rain in and around the area over the last few days.
New Zealand will look to rectify their poor record in India, having last won a Test match here back in 1988. The one-off Test at Greater Noida against Afghanistan is the perfect place to post their first win on Indian soil in 36 years.
