Maddison reveals what Postecoglou did to make him feel at home at Spurs right away

James Maddison admits that he has thoroughly enjoyed his time at Tottenham so far, revealing that he felt right at home as soon as he walked through the door at Hotspur Way last summer.

Spurs signed Maddison back in 2023

It has been just a year since Maddison arrived at Tottenham but it already feels like he has been at the club for a long time, with the attacking midfielder buying into the club’s ethos and taking up a leadership role as soon as he arrived.

The 27-year-old has certainly showcased his quality on many occasions, playing with the kind of flair and guile that Spurs fans love to see.

However, his spell at the North London club has not been without any hiccups, with the former Leicester City man struggling in the latter part of last season after returning from his injury, which eventually cost him a place in the England squad for the Euros.

Maddison will hope to put things right this season and he has certainly started the campaign on the right note, looking a lot more like the player we saw prior to his injury last season.

Being named vice-captain helped Maddison a lot

When asked how he has found his time at Tottenham so far, the England international told Golf Life: “I’ve loved it to be fair, just over a year now. I kind of found that when I first signed, I felt I belonged there, it was a weird feeling. I was made to feel so welcome.”

“I think the gaffer giving me the vice-captaincy and a leadership role within the group helped me settle in because straight away I had to be top, responsible and help me bed into the group a bit by just giving me that responsibility so early on.”

Some players are just born to play for Tottenham and Maddison is certainly one of those.

I have no doubt that he will have built an iconic status at the club by the time his time at N17 is done.
