J.Lo and Matt Damon Sure Had a Lot to Catch Up On

After finally filing for divorce from Ben Affleck, Jennifer Lopez appears to be moving through the natural stages of breakup grief. Step one: Accept the new reality of Ben-free birthdays and having to endure the regular sight of your ex’s new L.A. bachelor pad. Step two: Post a handful of revenge selfies to exhibit how “unbothered” you are. Step three: Have the inevitable “It’s not you, it’s Ben” chat with your ex’s best friend — which appears to be what happened over the weekend at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Per photos published by “Page Six,” Lopez and Matt Damon were seen holding hands and shooting each other nostalgic glances at the after-party for Unstoppable. Produced by Damon and Affleck’s company Artists Equity, the film stars J.Lo, marking her first official red-carpet appearance since she filed for divorce in August.

According to People, an eyewitness source claimed J.Lo and Damon had a “long, deep conversation” that ran for more than 20 minutes. Damon, of course, grew up with J.Lo’s ex in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where they were so close that they shared a bank account in high school for video games and beer. The film bros went on to collaborate on classics like Good Will Hunting, School Ties, and Air and are still close friends. People’s source noted, however, that the tenor of J.Lo and Damon’s chat didn’t seem entirely somber. The two were also seen giggling as they sat side by side. I’ll give it to J.Lo: At least she can laugh about this shitshow of a divorce that’s been playing out in the tabloids for months!

Elsewhere at the Unstoppable after-party, J.Lo was captured by The Hollywood Reporter joking to her co-star Bobby Carnevale that she’s “a bad picker,” while wearing a disco ball of a Tamara Ralph gown. Plus, the film got a standing ovation, so I’m going to count this one as a win for Jenny from the Block.
