Fairfax police link three suspects to bicycle shop burglary

Authorities arrested three San Rafael men for allegedly stealing bicycles from a Fairfax shop.

The theft was discovered around 6 a.m. Saturday, when police were alerted about a security alarm at a business near Claus Drive and Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.

Fairfax police Sgt. Jonathan Judge said that an officer saw evidence of forced entry and observed two people near the business. The suspects then ran and jumped over a fence after the officer approached them, he said.

An officer later saw two suspects and briefly chased them in downtown Fairfax, Judge said. One was detained by a bystander and the other was stopped by an off-duty Fairfax officer, he said. A Marin County sheriff’s deputy detained the third suspect.

Elder Santay Vasquez, 22; Diego Gomez Lopez, 22; and Efrain Hernandez Gonzalez, 27, were arrested on suspicion of burglary, possessing stolen property, conspiracy and resisting police. They were booked into Marin County Jail, where their bail amounts were set between $10,000 to $50,000.
