James Earl Jones, actor who played Darth Vader in 'Star Wars,' dies at 93: report

James Earl Jones, whose iconic baritone voice brought gravitas to the role of the nefarious "Star Wars" villain Darth Vader, died Monday morning, according to a report. He was 93.

Jones died in his Dutchess County home in New York, Independent Artist Group confirmed to Deadline.

The actor earned the rare achievement of an EGOT, which represents the four major awards a performer can claim: Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony.

Classic films uplifted by Jones include Stanley Kubrick's "Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb" (1964), Disney's "The Lion King" (1994) and "Field Of Dreams."

Jones was born Jan. 17, 1931, in Arkabutla, Mississippi, according to Deadline.
