South magnets are go
Hello Friends,
Swell’s pulsed up overnight. At 0600 the MHL buoy was showing 1.6 metres at 9.5 seconds from dead south. So, this will mean magnets should be in the chest-ish plus range on sets, but at less optimally aligned stretches, it will be near-unsurfable. Tide was low at just before 0600, which means we should get a little tidal push, but that low and mid-tide locations will gradually get less focused. Wind was westerly at 0700. It’s set to track around to the east-SE as the morning goes along. The Bureau says the wave energy will peak today and fade back overnight.
The models are showing another, longer lasting south swell filling in from Thursday. It looks like it might dial back a bit on Friday before coming back up again on Saturday as some very long period component starts showing. Unfortunately the energetic stuff could be accompanied by onshores and rain… but we shall see.
Weather Situation
A ridge of high pressure extends across central parts of the coast while a trough lingers over the far northern waters early this morning. North to northeasterly winds are expected to develop along the NSW coast from later today and then shift south to southwesterly and increase later Wednesday or Thursday as a cold front crosses the region and possibly forms a low pressure system over the Tasman Sea.
