But it seems wedding guest Tahlia Skaines, 29, didn’t get the memo as she turned up to her friend’s beach wedding wearing an off-white floor length dress with large cut-out details.

The Australia influencer who has over 800k followers online shared her outfit on Instagram.

She captioned the photos, “A beautiful day celebrating love.”

Posing by the beach, the blonde-haired beauty had her tousled hair down as she showed off her dress.

The white floor-length number was almost see through and had a large slit going up her eft leg.

The dress also had a huge cut-out feature in the middle of her stomach showing off her toned abs and left little to the imagination.

She finished the look off with a pair of silver stilettos shoes along with a matching clutch bag.

What people choose to wear to other people’s weddings is an absolute hot topic at the moment and always seems to ignite fiery debate and Tahlia’s ensemble was no exception.

Tahlia revealed that she had been given a dress code for the wedding which she had followed.

But many followers found it hard to believe as they claimed her outfit wasn’t appropriate.

The post which originally appeared on her Instagram account went so viral it found itself in multiple Facebook groups.

Someone sharing her photos in a Facebook group asked if anyone else thought the look was a bit “excessive.”

One person wrote: “I would politely ask her to change outfits or leave.”

Another claimed it broke the number one rule when attending a wedding: not to “upstage” the bride.

Wedding Guest Outfit Etiquette

If you're struggling to decided on a dress to see you through wedding season, here's a few rules on what not to wear so you don't get in trouble.

  • Folklore says that wearing red at a wedding means you slept with the groom.
  • Casual attire like jeans and flip flops should always be avoided.
  • Any colour that could be picked up as white or cream – even if it’s not.
  • Most would agree that your cleavage needs to be covered.
  • Wearing white is a massive no-no if you’re not the bride.

“Seriously? Even if there isn’t a dress code did you forget that this day isn’t about you,” penned a third.

Tahlia hit back revealing there was in fact a dress code and the bride had asked people to wear white.

Meanwhile a fourth said: “what’s the need to show off like that to your friend’s wedding? obviously insecure.”

“Not appropriate to wear to a wedding. You are disrespectful,” claimed a fifth.

Someone else added: “Seriously? Zero class!”
