Troopers: 4 arrested following UTV thefts

HUDSON FALLS, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- State Police announced the arrest of four men following the theft of multiple utility terrain vehicles (UTVs). Joseph Millington, 34, of Diamond Point, Jefferey Dickinson, 36, Fort Ann, Jeffrey Fifield, 37, of Hudson Falls, and Charles Cleveland, 30, of Greenwich were arrested for third-degree criminal possession of stolen property.

State Police responded to the New Swamp Road area in Kingsbury on September 2 for reports of a stolen UTV before locating it in Hudson Falls with the help of the Hudson Falls Police Department. Troopers say their investigation revealed that Millington and Dickinson allegedly brought the UTV to Hudson Falls to conceal and sell it. Fifield was found at the property with another UTV, but he claimed it was his.

Millington was found walking nearby and taken into custody and Dickinson was found in Hudson Falls the next day and taken into custody. They were both also charged with fifth-degree conspiracy.

During the September 2 investigation, troopers reported finding an unrelated and abandoned UTV in Kingsbury leading to a second investigation. After contacting businesses in the area, troopers determined that two UTVs, one of which was the one they found, were stolen along with other property from Queensbury.

With the help of the Hudson Falls Police Department, troopers say they were able to find the second UTV that was stolen. State Police say it was the UTV Fifield had claimed was his.

Law enforcement reports that additional stolen property was found in Fifield's home and that Cleveland allegedly brought the UTV and other stolen items to the home on September 1. Both were arrested and brought to the Washington County Correctional Facility to wait for arraignment.

In total, State Police and the Hudson Falls Police Department recovered three UTVs and other stolen items. The total value of the recovered property is more than $60,000.
