Policy to link scrapping of vehicles to pollution instead of age in the works: MoRTH secretary

The government is developing a policy to link vehicle scrapping to fitness levels, including emissions, rather than age. This aims to remove only poorly maintained vehicles. The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways seeks industry input on making pollution certificates more reliable. The Vehicle Scrappage Policy 2021 saw limited success with 120,000 vehicles scrapped so far.
