Salma Hayek co-chaired The Kering Foundation’s Caring for Women Dinner on Sept. 9 in New York City, joining a plethora of stars to support NGOs aiming to end gender-based violence. Joining fellow co-chairs, including Kim Kardashian, Hayek dazzled at The Pool last night in a strapless dress and black platform sandals.
Hayek’s dress featured a neutral toned layer underneath thin vertical stripes of glittering black fabric. The stripes gathered more closely below the bust, creating a corset-like bodice. The fitted dress fell elegantly to the floor and featured a slit in the back which subtly revealed her shoes.
The outfit was accented by a unique necklace-like accessory draped across her shoulders which featured concentric diamond embellishments. Hayek also sported a couple of large rings and a bold red lip, while her hair was styled up with a single tendril hanging forward.
Hayek reached for a pair of black platform sandals to round out her glamorous evening aesthetic and adding plenty of height to her look. They appeared to be the Gucci Claudie platform sandals in black patent leather, but without the signature gold-tone horsebit.
Instead, Hayek’s open-toe shoe featured a curved strap across the toes in addition to narrow straps in the back supporting the ankle and stretching across the top of the foot. A sizable platform boosted the front of the shoe while a taller block heel elevated the back.
These seemed to be the same shoes the actress wore to the 60th Venice Benniale Pre-Opening Dinner in April, pairing them with a sparkling blue gown that day.
This platform sandal style can be found from a range of companies like Stuart Weitzman or Gucci, with the latter brand enhancing it with a horsebit.
Hayek is a noted devotee of the platform style; she wore a towering silver Gucci style to the premiere of Zoë Kravitz’s “Blink Twice” earlier this summer, for example. She also wore a shiny black version of a Gucci platform sandal at a party hosted by Gucci and Miley Cyrus.
