Dems demand Army produce incident report on Trump's 'egregious' Arlington altercation

Democratic leaders are growing "frustrated" that the U.S. Army hasn't produced an incident report about an altercation at Arlington National Cemetary purportedly involving members of Donald Trump's campaign.

A Democratic aide said officials have been asking for the report for nearly two weeks, Greg Sargent of The New Republic reported Tuesday. Lawmakers also want a play-by-play of what was said to the Trump campaign staffers before the incident.

According to the reports, an altercation unfolded after a cemetery official told the campaign they couldn't shoot photos or videos of the graves of Iraq and Afghanistan soldiers.

"Three senior House Democrats—Representatives Adam Smith, Jamie Raskin, and Mark Takano—are set to release a new statement Tuesday that increases the pressure on the Army for more information," Sargent wrote.

“The alleged assault of an Arlington staff member by Trump campaign staff requires a strong official response,” the three Democrats told the news outlet in a statement.

The “failure to properly investigate this egregious incident in a timely manner and hold violators accountable undermines the integrity and honor of Arlington National Cemetery” and erodes “norms requiring nonpartisanship in the military," the statement continued.

“We urge the U.S. Army to immediately provide information regarding how the event was coordinated," they demanded.

The U.S. Army said in a statement the campaign was "made aware" of the laws which "clearly prohibit political activities on cemetery grounds."

The Trump campaign denies any altercation happened.
