St. Helens cheer coach arrested on multiple sex abuse charges, police seeking additional victims

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A St. Helens cheer coach was arrested on sexual abuse charges Friday, authorities said.

According to the St. Helens Police Department, Anthony Trenkler, 27, was under investigation following reports made while he was a cheer coach with Vault Elite Cheer in St. Helens.

Police said that during their investigation they found more victims and eventually on Friday, investigators "lured" Trenkler to McMichael Street where they took him into custody.

Following the arrest, authorities said they also executed a search warrant, obtaining more evidence.

Trenkler faces charges including first-degree sexual abuse and two counts of first-degree attempted sexual abuse.

Authorities said that they believe there could be additional victims and they are asking anyone with information about Trenkler to contact police.
