Man sentenced for rollover crash that killed a child in Shawnee Co.

TOPEKA (KSNT) - A Topeka man has been sentenced after being arrested for a crash killing a child in 2022.

According to court documents, Caleb Conway has been convicted of the following:

  • Murder in the second degree.
  • Driving under the influence.

These charges stem from a rollover crash in Rossville that killed 11-year-old Bella W. Conway. Caleb Conway is sentenced to 190 months in the Kansas Department of Corrections for the second degree murder charge and 12 months in the county jail for driving under the influence. Those sentences will run consecutively. Caleb received three separate fines of $1,750.

Just before 7:30 p.m. on June 8, 2022, Shawnee County Sheriff's Office responded to a single-vehicle crash in the 3900 block of NW Carlson Road. The vehicle, with Caleb and Bella Conway inside, left the road, struck a culvert and flipped. According to the sheriff's office, Caleb refused medical treatment at the scene.
