Several police agencies to participate in gun buyback
AMSTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- Many Montgomery and Fulton Counties law enforcement agencies will participate in a gun buyback event on Saturday, Sept. 21. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church on Guy Park Avenue in Amsterdam.
New York State Attorney General Letitia James and the Amsterdam Police Department are hosting the buyback. The event is an amnesty program, and police will not question anyone participating.
Rewards
- $500 per assault rifle
- $250 per handgun
- $75 per rifle or shotgun
- $25 per non-working, replica, or antique gun. Homemade or 3D-printed guns receive $25 regardless of the quantity.
Guns for the buyback should be transported in the vehicle's trunk, unloaded, and in a plastic bag, paper bag, or box. The event is in support of the Attorney General's ongoing effort to keep families safe and protect New York communities from gun violence.
