'He doesn't have any values!' Senator urges CNN anchor to hold Trump to Harris' standard

Pennsylvania Democratic Sen. John Fetterman defended Kamala Harris ahead of the much-anticipated debate and called the election a "stark choice" that isn't about "nuance."

Fetterman spoke with CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer and backed the vice president when asked whether her shifting views on fracking could cost her at the debate in Philadelphia.

"No. In fact I've been saying the same thing since 2016 that fracking is not going to be a defining issue in this election, and I said the exact same thing in 2020. And they tried to lie against Joe Biden through that too. And the same thing's going to happen in 2024."

He said he believes Harris will "prevail" — but it'll be "very, very close."

"This is not a race about nuance, this is going to be a very stark choice. It's going to be the choice. And if you want that kind of depravity and the kinds of bizarre kinds of positions that he pivots, and talk about electrocuting sharks and bizarre other kinds of statements," said Fetterman.

The senator said former President Donald Trump has "no standards at this point."

When asked about Harris' statement that while her views on fracking have evolved since 2019, her values haven't, Fetterman didn't answer the question and went on the offensive and laid into Trump's record.

"Let's talk about Trump who appointed three extreme-right justices. And they killed Roe. And now he's talking about trying to walk back a lot of the things and actually talking about female reproductive freedom. Trump changes — he doesn't have any values. He talks about bizarre kinds of terms," he added.

Fetterman urged Blitzer to hold Trump to the same standard as Harris when it comes to the scrutiny over her "relatively obscure" kinds of policies on things such as fracking.
