Walz praises Taylor Swift's 'courage' in endorsing Harris
Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz embraced Taylor Swift's endorsement immediately following Tuesday night's debate between Vice President Harris and former President Trump.
Walz joined MSNBC for an interview after the debate, where host Rachel Maddow read him Swift's Instagram post endorsing Harris in its entirety.
"I am incredibly grateful, first of all, to Taylor Swift," Walz said. "I say that as a cat owner, a fellow cat owner. That was eloquent, and that was clear. And that's the type of courage we need in America to stand up."
Walz encouraged Swift's fans, known as "Swifties," to go to Harris's website to learn more about the candidate and how they can help the campaign.
In a post to her 283 million followers on Instagram, Swift announced she is voting for Harris and Walz in November.
"Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight. If you haven’t already, now is a great time to do your research on the issues at hand and the stances these candidates take on the topics that matter to you the most," Swift wrote. "As a voter, I make sure to watch and read everything I can about their proposed policies and plans for this country."
She said she would be voting for Harris "because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos."
Swift signed her message, "Childless Cat Lady," a jab at GOP vice presidential nominee Sen. JD Vance's (R-Ohio) past comments attacking Harris and other prominent Democrats.
