Babita Phogat makes shocking claim about cousin Vinesh Phogat joining Congress, accuses Bhupinder Hooda of…

In a recent development, wrestler and BJP leader Babita Phogat has made serious allegations against former Haryana Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda. Babita accused Hooda of creating a rift within her family following the entry of her cousin and Olympian wrestler Vinesh Phogat into the Congress party last week. The wrestling champion claimed that Hooda’s actions have successfully divided the Phogat family, pointing fingers at the Congress party for allegedly promoting division and causing fractures in families for political motives. Babita Phogat said, “Bhupinder Hooda succeeded in creating a rift in the Phogat family. People will teach him a lesson. The Congress’s agenda has been to divide and rule. They have always worked to break families.”

The controversy arose when Vinesh Phogat decided to join the Congress party after retiring from her  wrestling career. Babita expressed disappointment in her cousin’s decision and suggested that Vinesh should have listened to the wisdom of their father and Vinesh’s mentor, Mahavir Phogat. According to Babita, Mahavir’s guidance would have steered Vinesh in the right direction.

Furthermore, Babita emphasized that Vinesh, despite missing out on a medal at the recent Paris Olympics, should have focused on her wrestling journey, as she possessed the potential to clinch an Olympic gold in the upcoming 2028 games.

It is clear that family dynamics have been significantly impacted by Vinesh’s political move.

Mahavir Singh Phogat disappointed with Vinesh’s decision

Earlier, Mahavir Singh Phogat expressed his disappointment over the decision of Vinesh entering politics, saying that we wanted her to participate in 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and bring gold for India. “Vinesh should have played LA Olympics but now that she has moved to politics, we have started preparing Sangeeta Phogat for the 2028 Games, she will bring a medal for India. Because of Jantar Mantar protest, Sangeeta missed nationals. Babita Phogat’s knees are not fine, so no point of her coming back to mat,” Mahavir said to news agency IANS.

“I wanted Vinesh to prepare herself for the 2028 Olympics. The decision Vinesh has made to contest the elections is entirely up to her and her husband (Somvir). We had no desire for her to enter politics. I am not happy with her decision to join politics. The entire nation was expecting Vinesh to bring home the gold in 2028, and I was hoping for the same,” he said.

“She entered politics, might become a legislator or even a minister, but if she had won a gold medal in the Olympics, it would be remembered for life,” he added.

Babita Phogat misses BJP ticket

In the 2019 assembly polls, Babita contested from Dadri but lost to independent candidate Somveer Sangwan. This time, the saffron party has fielded Sunil Sangwan, while the Congress has yet to announce its candidate.

Despite this, she expressed her support for the party’s decision, stating, “Party is bigger than the individual and the country is bigger than the party.”

“I stand with the decision of the top leadership of the BJP. Being a dedicated party worker, I will continue to discharge every responsibility given by the organisation,” she added.
