ENG Vs AUS Dream11 team prediction, match preview, fantasy cricket hints: Captain, probable playing 11s, team news; injury updates for England Vs Australia 1st T20I in Southampton, 11PM IST, September 11

England will begin a three-match T20I series against Ashes rivals Australia with the first game taking place at the Rose Bowl in Southampton on Wednesday (September 11). England will be led by wicketkeeper-opener Phil Salt in the absence of regular skipper Jos Buttler, who is out injured.

The home side have named three uncapped players Jordan Cox, Jacob Bethell and Jamie Overton, who will make their England T20I debut against Australia in the first match. Apart from handling the captaincy duties, Salt will look to lead the charge with the bat in the opening order. The 28-year-old’s explosiveness at the top is reflected in his T20I statistics; he has amassed 885 runs at a whopping strike rate of 165.11 in 31 T20Is.

Ausralia, on the other hand, are enjoying a golden run in the T20I format of the game – having won 13 out of the 16 matches they have played in 2024. Two of those three defeats came at the hands of India and Afghanistan which cost them berth in the T20 World Cup 2024 semifinals and skipper Mitchell Marsh will look rectify that.

Skipper Marsh backed young opener Jake Fraser-McGurk in spite of a slow start in international cricket in the three-match T20I series against Scotland. “We know he’s an exciting talent and he’s got a big future,” the Australian skipper told reporters on the eve of their three-match T20 series against England,” Marsh told reporter in Southampton ahead of the T20I series.

“I love what he’s brought to our team, both on and off the field so far, he’s a ripping young kid and he’s going to learn a lot by being around this environment. From our end and from within our team environment, there’s no pressure on Jake to do anything. He doesn’t need to prove to anyone that he’s good enough at this level,” he added.
