Elon Musk Is Slammed as ‘Creepy’ After He Says He’ll ‘Give’ Taylor Swift a Child

Men have gotten away with predatory behavior for far too long — and people are sick of it. Everyone is slamming the latest disgusting comment from billionaire Elon Musk, after he told Taylor Swift he would “give” her a child. It’s giving “creepy,” “rapey,” and “f–king weird,” according to commenters, and we couldn’t agree more.

First, let me give you some context. Vice President Kamala Harris had a fantastic night on Tuesday, after a fiery presidential debate with former President Donald Trump and receiving the endorsement of the “Cruel Summer” singer.  ICYMI, Swift shared a photo of herself (and her cat!) on Instagram minutes after the debate ended. She wrote in part, “I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them.”

“I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos,” she continued. “I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades.” She signed off, “With love and hope, Taylor Swift Childless Cat Lady,” a reference to Trump’s running mate J.D. Vance’s previous unhinged ranting about “childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives.”

The post, which now has over 8.3 million likes, apparently did not sit well with Musk, a vocal supporter of Trump who recently claimed that his transgender child was “killed by the woke-mind virus.” Musk took to X (formerly Twitter) to make his creepy comment on Swift.

“Fine Taylor … you win … I will give you a child and guard your cats with my life,” he wrote on Tuesday night. Sure, maybe you could read this is a lighthearted joke. Or you could see it as him threatening to impregnate her because he doesn’t like her endorsement (it wouldn’t be the first time men have used rape as a form of dominance and control).

The tweet, which only received 222,000 likes despite being viewed by 41.3 million people, disgusted people. “Am I reading this right that you are offering to have a child with Taylor Swift,” one person wrote, clearly just as in shock at what they were seeing as we were.

“this shit is creepy man,” someone else said, racking up 30,000 likes. Another popular commented said, “You are creepy and weird.” Someone else said, “why are you so f–king weird.”

“Found a way to sexually harass people who aren’t your employees,” someone else said, referring to Musk’s former lawsuits. Another commented, “This sounds very rapey to me.”

“This tweet just takes things to a whole new level of strange,” a different person observed. “It’s not even eccentric at this point, just outright unsettling.”

“Good call. You have too many kids and need to declutter. Which one are you offering?” someone quipped, referencing the fact that Musk has welcomed 12 babies with three different women. (Although, given Musk’s seeming obsession about birth rates, the implication is that he would get Swift pregnant and not that he would just “give” her a child.)

At a time when women’s rights are being stripped away, an American is sexually assaulted every 68 seconds, and the justice system has historically not supported survivors of sexual assault, Musk’s “joke” isn’t just not funny. It’s an offensive and thinly veiled threat and an example of the sickening and degrading way men view women. I’m glad people are calling out his comment as “creepy” and “weird” — the more that people speak up, the more that we can end this misogynistic behavior. Whether it’s directed toward the most famous pop singer on the planet or not, it’s (well past) time men were held accountable for their words and actions. Are you ready for it?
