Now the veteran TV presenter has been given his own food and travel series for ITV.

Dermot’s Taste of Ireland will take Dermot, 51, back to his family roots as he discovers Ireland’s best kept gastronomical secrets.

He will travel across different locations of the Emerald Isle over the five-part series which will air on ITV1 and ITVX.

The description for the show reads: “Having opened two of his own fish-themed restaurants and sharing some of his favourite home recipes on ITV’s This Morning, he is now taking his passion on the road whilst exploring Ireland’s ancient landscapes, diverse cities and stunning coastlines.”

The presenter will visit Michelin Star restaurants in Kinsale, which has previously been labelled as ‘the Gourmet Capital of Ireland’.

Viewers will also see the former Big Brother presenter visit Dublin to explore the food scene in the Irish capital, seek comfort food in Wexford and he will even fish for Oysters in Cork.

The star will also venture to Northern Ireland as he explores Belfast in a series which bosses promise will be “full of surprises”.

Dermot couldn’t help but gush over his excitement over his forthcoming adventure to make its way onto the airwaves.

He admitted: “I can’t wait to embark on this trip, to explore two of my great loves, Ireland and food.

“The food scene in Ireland is so exciting and to meet the people and try the produce will be a real treat.”

He added: “It’s exciting to see modern Ireland through second generation eyes.

“To show that Ireland’s food is more than cabbage and stews… although all their cabbage and stews are also great!”

The series is set to premiere on ITV1 on Monday September 23 at 2pm.

The other four episodes will air on the following consecutive days through to Friday.
