Health authorities in Pakistan announced on Wednesday that they have identified the sixth case of Monkeypox in the northwestern region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

This is the sixth case in the country this year and the fifth since the WHO declared the outbreak a global health emergency in August.

According to the authorities, this case of Monkeypox was observed in a 33-year-old patient.

As reported by Pakistani media, this individual returned to Pakistan from Islamabad International Airport on Saturday, September 7th, and then traveled to Peshawar.

Health officials in the country stated that the patient is currently quarantined at home and is recovering.

Four other recorded cases of Monkeypox have also been observed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and according to reports, all the patients have recovered.

Mpox causes flu-like symptoms and sores. It’s usually mild but can be deadly, especially for children, pregnant women, and those with weak immune systems, according to Reuters.

Recently, following an outbreak of this disease in East and Central Africa, the World Health Organization declared a public health emergency.

Monkeypox, also known as “Monkeypox,” is a deadly disease spreading in Congo since last year.

The World Health Organization recently declared a public health emergency due to Monkeypox outbreaks in East and Central Africa, with over 27,000 cases and 1,100 deaths reported.
