Taylor Swift launched counterattack against Trump's 'war on women': Analyst
Billionaire megastar Taylor Swift's endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday evening is a significant development beyond a typical celebrity endorsement, former White House Communications Director Kate Bedingfield argued on CNN Wednesday — it represents a cultural pushback against former President Donald Trump's mistreatment of women.
Swift's endorsement, posted to Instagram, explicitly spoke out against Trump's promotion of fake AI imagery appearing to show her endorsing him — and signed her post "from a childless cat lady," referencing Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance's repeated attacks on childless women.
"Last night, Taylor Swift endorsed the Harris presidential campaign just minutes after the debate ended, posting a picture of her with her cat Benjamin Button," said anchor Jake Tapper. "Does it really matter? I mean, she's huge. And if my daughter is watching, I know she's the greatest person that's ever lived, Taylor Swift, second only to your mother. But does it actually matter?"

"So I mean, look, as a bona fide Swiftie, I may not be the most objective on this question," said Bedingfield. "I think most celebrity endorsements don't matter all that much, to be totally candid. I do think hers matters, for two reasons."
First of all, said Bedingfield, Swift "has an incredibly large and incredibly loyal following."
"I mean, the people who love her, care about her, follow her on Twitter," she said. "I mean, look at what happened to the NFL over the last year when Taylor Swift started showing up at games, suddenly women were watching NFL games, suddenly Chiefs games were appointment viewing. So she has shown an ability to influence people's behavior. So I think that matters."
"And then secondly, I think the fact that she signed the post 'childless cat lady' also shows first of all, show she connects, knows how to connect with young people, but also shows how completely this war on women that Vance and Trump are prosecuting has seeped into the culture."
