Women’s T20 World Cup Announces Free Entry for U-18s, Ticket Prices Begin at 5 Dirhams

In an effort to draw larger audiences to elite women’s cricket, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided to grant free admission to all under-18s for the forthcoming T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates, where tickets would start at 5 Dirhams (about Rs 115).

The 10-team competition, which takes place from October 3–20, will have 23 games over the course of 18 days.

The semi-finals of the league will take place in Dubai and Sharjah on October 17 and 18, respectively. The 20 league matches will be split between the two cities. Dubai will host the championship match.

The lowest ticket price, according to ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice, would be five dirhams, and admission will be free for everyone under the age of eighteen.

The choice was made as part of a plan to create a lasting legacy for the first-ever international women’s cricket competition to be hosted in the area, the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024.

“The UAE’s diversity is one of its intriguing features. There are representatives from all across the world there! All ten nations will essentially be playing in their home countries during this World Cup, and the players will have the encouragement of fervent supporters,” Allardice stated in a press release.

“In light of this, I’m happy to announce that tickets will be priced at just five dirhams, with free admission for those under the age of eighteen.”

“On the event’s legacy, we will collaborate with the Dubai Sports Council and the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB).

In addition, Allardice released a video featuring a breathtaking laser show during the tournament at the renowned Burj Khalifa. “I would like to thank the ECB and our friends at the Dubai Sports Council as well as the teams at the Dubai International Stadium and Sharjah Cricket Stadium for their extraordinary efforts,” she said.

Zaid Abbas, a board member of the ECB, expressed excitement about collaborating closely with the ICC and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), the tournament’s initial host.

“The ECB would work closely with all stakeholders including the International Cricket Council and the Bangladesh Cricket Board to ensure that the participants and fans have a memorable time during their stay in the country.”

Six-time champion Australia is in Group A of the competition, with New Zealand, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka; Bangladesh, England, South Africa, the West Indies, and Scotland are in Group B.
