Three arrested in cocaine bust to be taken to court
Three people arrested on Wednesday after police found over 2kg of cocaine in their car, will be taken before Limassol district court on Thursday.
The three, aged 35, 33 and 22, were arrested after a tipoff regarding a potential drug deal.
Following the lead, police spotted a vehicle, driven by the 35-year-old, pulling into a fast-food parking place in Limassol.
A motorcycle and one more car pulled up and then all three vehicles drove off.
They were found shortly afterwards parked in the Zakaki area.
The 33-year-old rider of the motorcycle was seen wearing a backpack and was stopped by the police drug squad.
The other two vehicles got away.
The rider tried to get away on foot but was caught.
Police found cocaine weighing 2.36kg in the backpack.
The 33-year-old was arrested for possession of drugs with the intention of selling them.
During investigations, testimonies against the other two, aged 35 and 22, were obtained and they were later arrested.
All three will be taken before the Limassol district court on Thursday for remand orders.
Investigations are continuing.
