Manchester’s pro franchise reveals new brand identity

The new Super League Basketball franchise in Manchester has revealed their brand identity as they will go under the name Manchester Basketball.

With two marks, both a ‘Mcr’ script style logo and an emblem with a basketball with the words ‘Manchester Basketball’ circling it, the logos will be used interchangeably through the season.

In an open letter to the Manchester supporters, the club, which was purchased by the Sherwood Family Investment Office this summer, thanked the fanbase for its patience and explained some of the work that has been happening behind the scenes.

“We’re conscious that we’ve been a little quiet lately,” they said in a statement.

“We wanted to reach out to update you all on what we’ve been up to behind the scenes.

“The foundation for a sustainable, successful Manchester basketball franchise is making great progress.

“Our goal is to grow our club over the next few years, to reconnect with our community and the city, and to elevate basketball across the city. We’re talking with key stakeholders in Manchester as we look to build our relationships with the Council, Universities and local & national businesses.

“You the fans are our most critical partners. With the season less than a month away, you can expect an increase in exciting announcements: coaches, player signings, merchandise, kit launches and more.

“We will officially begin the season as Manchester Basketball.”

With the Manchester Giants still owned by Basketball League Limited; the 777 Partners-owned holding company that the BBL operated through before losing the professional league license, the new franchise had no choice but to start under a new name.

The club confirmed that the National Basketball Performance Centre at Belle Vue will once again be the home for Manchester’s professional franchise.
