Game Thread: Braves vs. Nationals, 6:45 PM

The New York Mets and Atlanta Braves entered Wednesday tied for the third wild card spot. The Mets pulled off an incredible win on Wednesday when they rallied back from being no-hit through eight innings to winning 6-2 over the Blue Jays.

The Mets have a half-game lead over the Braves, pending Atlanta’s result.

The Padres enter their Wednesday game with a two-game lead for the first wild card over the Mets and tied with the Diamondbacks. The Padres start at 9:40 p.m. ET on Wednesday night in Seattle. Right-hander Michael King (3.10 ERA) goes for the Padres against right-hander Bryan Woo (2.36 ERA) for the Mariners.

The D-Backs clobbered the Rangers 14-4 on Wednesday in Arizona.

Tuesday night was bittersweet for the Braves. They won 12-0 to tie the Mets for the final NL wild card spot, but they lost Reynaldo López to shoulder inflammation, and he’s been placed on the 15-day injured list.

Left-hander Max Fried (3.35 ERA) gets the start for Atlanta in Washington, D.C. Righty Jake Irvin (4.28 ERA) gets the ball for the Nationals.
