Kris Aquino to fly back to the Philippines

MANILA, Philippines – Kris Aquino will be returning to the Philippines before she starts a second round of treatment, she announced in an Instagram post on Thursday, September 12.

Aquino is set to receive treatment in two to three weeks, and said she would need emotional support from her family, closest friends, and doctors.

“The reason I decided to go home is because I need to start my second immunosuppressant infusions in 2-3 weeks (it’s a gentler term for chemotherapy). Emotionally I need the encouragement and unwavering faith my sisters & cousins, closest friends, and trusted team of doctors can provide,” Aquino wrote.

The actress-host is currently confirmed to be diagnosed with six autoimmune conditions: autoimmune thyroiditis, chronic spontaneous urticaria, Churg-Strauss syndrome, systemic sclerosis, lupus, and rheumatoid arthritis. She is awaiting the results of two more autoimmune conditions.

The Feng Shui star added that while she was previously struggling to improve her health, she is now struggling to protect her vital organs.

“Sadly what was the battle to improve my health is now the struggle to protect my vital organs. This is now the fight of my life,” she wrote.

This comes after Aquino confirmed in late June that she was dating someone new – a medical doctor based in Makati.

“He’s a doctor. And I think that’s part of the reason why it’s easy. Kasi alam niya kung anong pinagdadaanan ko (Because he knows what I’m going through),” she told Ogie Diaz in an interview.

In February, Aquino announced during an episode of Fast Talk With Boy Abunda that the next six months would be a crucial period for her, as she would be trying out a new medicine to improve her heart condition.

She also previously revealed in an Instagram comment that Bimby would need to start working soon to help shoulder her medical bills.

Aquino has yet to share further details about her trip back to the Philippines. – Rappler.com
