Meet Monkey: Dog seen running on highways near Newark Airport rescued
NEWARK, N.J. (PIX11) – A dog seen running on highways near Newark Liberty International Airport for weeks has been rescued, according to a New Jersey animal rescue.
A professional trapper caught the Jack Russell Terrier, who was named Monkey by the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge.
"And, even more unexpectedly, it only took minutes for this adorable dog to warm up to human touch, despite evading rescuers for so long," the rescue wrote in a Facebook post.
He is still scared of people but likes other dogs. Monkey, who is treat-motivated, is being socialized and trained to walk on a leash, according to the rescue.
It's not known when he'll be up for adoption. You can donate to help in Monkey's recovery here.
