Sitaram Yechury, General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), passed away at AIIMS at the age of 72. Yechury had a significant political career, starting as a student leader at JNU and becoming CPI(M) General Secretary in 2015. He is survived by his wife Seema Chishti and two children.
