Danny Rose doesn’t even disagree with Mourinho’s decision to drop him at Spurs
Danny Rose reveals that Jose Mourinho was clear with him that Ben Davies was a better fit for his system, with the former Tottenham man insisting that his relationship with the Portuguese coach was normal.
Jose Mourinho vs Danny Rose
Many would assume that Rose and Mourinho did not see eye-to-eye at Tottenham as the pair had a heated argument during Amazon’s ‘All or Nothing’, the fly-on-the-wall documentary about Spurs in the 2019-20 season.
In the documentary, the left-back was seen angrily complaining to the then-Tottenham boss about not starting matches, with the defender telling Mourinho in no uncertain terms that he was being unfairly treated as he had been better than other players in training.
Not long after that, Rose was shipped off on loan to Newcastle United and the defender’s career has gone downhill from that point.
Rose agrees that Ben Davies was a better fit
The 34-year-old has now revealed that his relationship with Mourinho was not an issue, insisting that he was simply not a good fit for the former Spurs boss’ tactics.
When asked about his relationship with the former Tottenham boss, Rose told The Gambling Zone YouTube channel: “Just a normal player/manager relationship.
“He came in and explained that he wanted to build up with a three (at the back), and he mentioned that Ben Davies was probably more ideal for him in that role.
“I don’t think I disagree with him there, because I like to attack and get forward just as much as defending, so that was that, and you have to respect every manager’s decision. There’s not much to report.”

The argument between Rose and Mourinho was nothing out of the ordinary and those sorts of disagreements are commonplace in football clubs.
However, the fact that the spat between the two made the final cut of the documentary and was broadcast for all to see did not help the left-back as it hurt his public image.
